The Yellow Kid was perhaps the very first comic strip ever, and artistically, it still may be the very best. Richard F. Outcault drew the Kid, and also the more famous-today Buster Brown. The Kid, who lived in a 19th century New York tenement, always appeared with his head shaved for lice.
